BYD has announced a significant achievement for both itself and Self Drive, with the launch of a luxury electric vehicle fleet operation in Nepal featuring the e6 MPV. Self Drive has already initiated its fleet operations utilizing the BYD e6, aiming to provide cost-effective, environmentally friendly chauffeured cars to corporate and private clients in Kathmandu.

Expressing enthusiasm about the collaboration with Spark, Sahil Shrestha, CEO of Cimex Inc., stated, “We’ve explored various avenues to promote electric mobility in Nepal through BYD’s green technologies. We believe we’ve identified the ideal partner who shares our commitment to delivering safe, reliable, and efficient green transportation solutions in urban areas.”

Roshan Pokharel, CEO of Self Drive, emphasized, “BYD’s e6 perfectly aligns with our criteria, offering passenger comfort, an impressive range, and rapid charging capabilities. We echo BYD’s vision of providing practical, zero-emission solutions and eagerly anticipate a long-term partnership.”

As part of the agreement, Cimex will establish a BYD service center at Spark Group’s Guheshwori facility in Kathmandu. Expected to be operational by May 2022, the workshop will boast highly trained professionals and modern equipment, contributing to the strengthening of BYD’s presence in Nepal. Additionally, fast chargers have been installed at the facility.

The BYD e6 electric MPV incorporates the company’s Blade battery technology, featuring a 71.7 kWh lithium-ion unit. Its electric motor produces approximately 94 bhp and 180 Nm, with a top speed of 130 kmph. Supporting both AC and DC fast charging, the e6 can achieve a 30 to 80 percent charge using a DC fast charger in just 35 minutes. The model offers an impressive maximum range of up to 520 km on a single charge.
